If you own a DR Power Pilot or Premier walk-behind trimmer mower, stop using it and ask DR Power for the free repair kit. On October 8, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 42,860 of these machines sold in the United States, plus about 340 sold in Canada. Grass and debris can build up inside the mowers and catch fire (CPSC recall 27-016).

- Where: Sold nationwide in the U.S.; announced together with Canadian authorities

Which mowers are affected
The recall covers every serial number of these eight models:
- Pilot: T4X1076DMN, T4X1076DMNR, T4X1076DMNSD, T4X1176DMN, T4X1176DMN-1, T4X1176DMNR

The mowers are orange and black, with the DR Power logo on top of the motor and on top of the frame above the cutter head, and "Premier" or "Pro" on the side of the frame. The model number is on a label on the side of the frame. They were sold from November 2022 through July 2026 for $380 to $550, at Ace, TSC, Bomgaars, other home improvement, hardware and independent power equipment stores, and on drpower.com. The importer is Generac Power Systems of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and the mowers were made in the United States and Vietnam (CPSC).
Reported incidents
According to the CPSC notice, DR Power has received 19 reports of these mowers catching fire, including two reports of minor injuries (blisters on hands and feet). The notice lists this as a Fast Track recall, a CPSC program in which a company agrees to stop sales and start a consumer recall quickly.
What to do
- Check the model label on the side of the frame against the eight model numbers above. Every serial number of those models is included.
- If it matches, stop using the mower now. The CPSC tells owners to stop using these mowers immediately.
- Request the free repair kit from DR Power: call 800-854-3194 (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday), email [email protected], or go to drpower.com/recalls (also linked as "Product Recalls" at the bottom of drpower.com).
- Not comfortable installing it? DR Power will arrange a free repair installation at an authorized dealer.
- Passing the mower on? Have the repair done first, and tell the next owner about the recall.
A separate DR Power recall: PRO MAX30 mowers
This is a different recall with a different hazard and phone line. Check it only if you own a DR Power PRO MAX30 30-inch walk-behind mower. On August 6, 2026, the CPSC announced a recall of about 320 of these mowers in the U.S., plus 9 in Canada (CPSC recall 26-648). The blades can run without the blade control engaged, or keep running after it is released. That creates a laceration hazard and violates the mandatory safety standard for walk-behind mowers. DR Power had received 19 reports of blades staying engaged or not stopping; no injuries were reported.
- Models and serial numbers: ES (WM25030DEN), serials 3015894821 through 3017342386; MS (WM25030DMN), serials 3015662325 through 3017342379; MS Recon (WM25030DMNR), serial 3015913138
- Where to look: the model and serial number are on the left side, in front of the rear wheel; "PRO MAX30" is on the front handlebars
- Sold: September 2024 through September 2025, at independent power equipment stores and on drpower.com
- What to do: stop using the mower unless the free repair kit has already been installed, and get the free repair kit or a free repair from an authorized dealer. Contact DR Power at 877-221-4038 (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday), [email protected], or drpower.com/recalls.
Why this matters for your garden
A recall notice only helps if you can match it to the machine in your shed, so write down the model and serial numbers of your outdoor power equipment and keep the manuals.
