SANSI Grow Light Review: 24 W and 36 W LED Bulbs

SANSI's BR30 white-spectrum grow bulbs can be practical for a few indoor plants in open, compatible fixtures. Two documented choices draw 24 W and 36 W respectively. These bulbs should be judged by useful light at the leaves and beam coverage rather than by an inflated 'equivalent watts' label.

How the two bulbs compare

SANSI's official BR30 36 W listing describes a 4000 K white LED and a stated PPF of 65.6 µmol/s. The separate 24 W BR30 listing states 36.2 µmol/s PPF. Those are the maker's measurements and may depend on the exact variant. Do not treat a large old-model marketing claim such as '2200 W' as the electricity drawn by one BR30 bulb. Check whether the current listing still corresponds to the product photographed.

Where a screw-in bulb works

A small living-room plant arrangement can benefit from a directional bulb in an appropriately rated lamp. A fabric lampshade or enclosed glass fitting may intercept useful light or impede cooling. The BR30 shape delivers a relatively concentrated beam and is less convenient for broad seed trays than an LED bar. Watch edge coverage: the nearest pot may receive far more light than plants to one side.

Light quantity and color

Balanced white lamps are convenient for seeing leaf discoloration and pests. The light that appears brightest to human eyes does not necessarily have the highest plant-level PPFD, so inspect the company's measurement distance. A lower-output bulb can complement a window, while full indoor growth of sun-loving herbs demands higher total daily light. University of Minnesota Extension provides different needs for foliage plants, seedlings and high-light plants.

Fit, voltage and heat

SANSI sells versions for different bases and regions; verify socket size, mains voltage and whether your fixture permits the bulb's actual input power. Ceramic cooling elements do not mean the lit bulb can be safely touched or enclosed in fabric. Keep watering away from power sockets and allow normal air movement. Use a timer rather than leaving lights on every night.

Buying verdict

For one or two foliage pots, a 24 W or 36 W bulb may be a tidy supplement if the published PPFD covers their leaves. For a large shelf or a tent, choose a source offering uniform area coverage. Review warranty, exact SKU and replacement availability before buying. A specifications review should not be mistaken for a hands-on or crop-yield trial.
